ACC stands for AirCarbon Carbon, stupid name we know, feel free to drop better name ideas in our discord (https://discord.gg/Cayew7SD)

Each ACC token represents a single carbon credit held in either one of the following registries, Verra, Gold Standard and Climate Action Reserve. The credits within these registries in a Trust account managed by AirCarbon Exchange.

Below are the methodologies which ACC supports

· Climate Action Reserve (CAR) - Voluntary Offset Project Registry Carbon Emission Units from an approved CAR registry project qualifying and verified under CAR protocols for Grassland, Canada Grassland, Forest, Rice Cultivation, Urban Forest Management, Nitrogen Management, Mexico Forest and Soil Enrichment.

· Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) – VERRA Registry, Carbon Emission Units from an approved VCS registry project qualifying and verified under Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector program methodologies.

· Gold Standard (GS) – GSF Impact Registry, Carbon Emission Units from an approved GS registry project qualifying and verified under GS Agriculture or Afforestation/Reforestation (A/R) methodologies

How do I retire my ACC token

Retirement is currently only possible via AirCarbon, follow the token deposit method below to bring your credits back within AirCarbon. Once deposited ACC tokens will convert automatically to their sister GNT(Global Nature Token) token. A on-chain retirement function is in the works and will be released in CO2Fi version 2.

How are ACC tokens minted?

Every ACC token begins life as one of AirCarbon’s Global Nature Tokens. As such they pass through all of AirCarbons onboarding processes before being brought on chain, chief among these processes is the transfer of credits from a project developers account to AirCarbon’s registry trust account. It is here where all the underlying carbon credits represented by the each an every ACC live.

Why can Carbon not be brought on chain directly?

Put simply its because the carbon registries do not have a blockchain architecture for their carbon ledger, in addition they are not set up to for trading, rather bookkeeping.
